Dr. Nancy Hughston – Veterinarian
Care Animal Regional Emergency Clinic of Spartanburg
Dr. Nancy Hughston is homegrown in Spartanburg County. After graduating from Dorman High School, she graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University. She was then accepted at University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated cum laude. She moved to Atlanta working in both a small animal general hospital and a small animal for 2 years. In 1978, she opened Companion Animal Clinic on the west side of Spartanburg, practicing small animal medicine for the next 28 years.
Ater selling her practice in 2006, Dr, Hughston began working at Spartanburg Veterinary Emergency Clinic. As one of the founders, she was drafted into management and continued to see patients. In 2011, the practice became Care Animal Regional Emergency Clinic of Spartanburg, and she has worked at CARE since the change.
Active in her church, civic activities, and professional associations, Dr. Hughston is past president and past South Carolina Association of Veterianarian’s “Veterinarian of the Year”. She is a past chairman of the South Carolina Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and past “Alumnus of the Year” for the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Hughston is presently active in the Upstate Chapter of Wildlife Action, a group devoted to teaching children about the outdoors. She enjoyed training field trial retrievers for years, but now enjoys time spent with her animals, family , and grandson, Hughston.
